Drucker Foundation for Nonprofit Management in 1990) announced today that the Leader to Leader Journal, a quarterly publication of the Frances Hesselbein Leadership Institute and Jossey-Bass, received two APEX 2011 Awards of Excellence, in Magazine and Journal Writing, and Regular Departments & Columns. APEX Awards are based on excellence in graphic design, editorial content, and the ability to achieve overall communications excellence. According to the APEX 2011 judges, "The awards were based on excellence in graphic design, quality of editorial content and the success of the entry in conveying the message and achieving overall communications effectiveness." The 23rd Annual APEX Awards for Publication Excellence is an annual, international competition for writers, editors, publications staff and business and nonprofit communicators. This year, more than 3,300 entries were evaluated. Previously, Leader to Leader received the APEX 2010 and 2009 Grand Awards of Excellence for Magazines & Journals, APEX 2007 Awards For Excellence in two subcategories: Regular Departments & Columns and Best Redesign, and APEX 2006 Awards of Excellence in three subcategories: New Magazines & Journals for its Special Supplement to Leader to Leader: Leadership Breakthroughs from West Point; Regular Departments & Columns written by editor-in-chief Frances Hesselbein; and Design & Layout for the overall composition of the Journal.
