Frances Hesselbein Leadership Institute President and CEO Frances Hesselbein Attends ATHENA International Leadership Summit as Honoree
Summit honorees and speakers inspired and motivated attendees from three countries.
NEW YORK, MAY 4, 2011 - The Frances Hesselbein Leadership Institute, whose mission is to strengthen the leadership of the social sector, and Institute's Board of Governors is very pleased to announce that President and CEO Frances Hesselbein will receive ATHENA International's Lifetime Achievement Award for her contributions to leadership in the social sector.
ATHENA International works to support, develop and honor women leaders, inspire women to achieve their full potential and create balance in leadership worldwide. ATHENA International's Lifetime Achievement Award is awarded annually to an individual who works to further professional excellenc and community service and actively assists women in their attainment of professional excellence and leadership skills. Hesselbein is the 17th recipient of ATHENA's Lifetime Achievement Award.
This year's ATHENA International Women's Leadership Summit, Advancing Women's Leadership: Leading With Impact, will take place at the MidAmerica Club in Chicago, IL, from Monday, May 2-Tuesday, May 3, 2011. Before the Award Reception on May 2, there will be a book signing from 5:00-6:00 pm.
The summit will also honor recipients of ATHENA International's Global ATHENA Leadership Award, Global ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award and Global ATHENA Leadership Award.
Prior to her role as President and CEO of Frances Hesselbein Leadership Institute, Frances Hesselbein served as the CEO of the Girl Scouts of the USA from 1976-1990. Hesselbein is also the recipient of twenty doctoral degrees and the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor in the United States. Her most recent book, My Life In Leadership was released in 2011.
